Honorary Visiting Research Fellow in Tropical Medicine

Most of my research focus is on tropical diseases. With the help of Professor Bob Taylor (MORU), we have submitted a proposal entitled “Assessing the efficacy, safety & acceptability of Paromomycin-Aquaphilic cream for Cutaneous Leishmaniasis in Kandahar, Afghanistan and Ethiopia” to the “Wellcome Trust”. This will be a large multi-center (two sites in Afghanistan and one site in Ethiopia) randomised-controlled clinical trial. I will be the Principal Investigator for the two sites in Afghanistan.

In the near future, I will start working on a malaria elimination study in South and Southeast Asia. In Afghanistan, we also plan to start an epidemiological study on the burden of malaria, cutaneous leishmaniasis, and dengue in all 34 provinces of Afghanistan.
