Students
We have been hosting students from Mahidol University, University of Oxford and Open University for over 20 years. Review our student pages to learn more about life as a MORU student, investigate the research that we do, identify a potential supervisor and find out how to apply.
Attention students: Consider MORU for your studies!
A key focus of MORU is building scientific research capacity in Thailand and South East and South Asia. One way we do this is by hosting students in a world-class research environment.
MORU currently hosts DPhil, PhD and MSc students from Mahidol’s Faculty of Tropical Medicine, the Nuffield Dept of Medicine at University of Oxford and the UK’s Open University. We welcome inquiries and applications from students around the world.
We offer students opportunities in multi-disciplinary research areas such as Malaria and Critical Care, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Mathematical & Economic Modelling, Epidemiology, Bioethics and Community Engagement.
In this video, you’ll hear from some of our current students about why living and studying in SE Asia and at MORU is such a great experience.

Three Minute Thesis competition
The Three Minute Thesis competition celebrates the exciting research conducted by Doctor of Philosophy (PhD/DPhil) students at MORU, and our partner unit in Vietnam (OUCRU). The competition encourages and trains students to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to our non-specialist audience of invited high school students.
The 2022 Finale of 3MT was held in Bangkok, Thailand
