Nicharee Jiracheep
PhD Student
Nicharee Jiracheep has worked as a PhD Research Assistant in MORU Clinical Pharmacology’s Pharmacometrics group in Bangkok since 2020. Her research experiences include using rational design to develop new compounds for a variety of neglected diseases (such as anti-malarial and anti-cancer), as well as designing and developing medical devices for a cardiovascular stent system for Thai ischemic heart disease (IHD) patients.
Nicharee’s proposed PhD research title, Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Properties of the Antimalarial Drug Arterolane, aims to optimize the dosing of the antimalarial drug combination arterolane-piperaquine using a population pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic modelling approach. Her research will provide an evidence-based rationale for optimizing the dose of the new combination treatment, to ensure that all individual patients receive a safe dose resulting in the most effective treatment.
Nicharee ongoing research interests focus on drug development for neglected diseases, particularly in the field of malaria treatment. She is interested in the development of combination therapies for malaria, and hopes to investigate the potential synergies between existing and novel drugs to overcome resistance and improve patient outcomes.
Nicharee holds a Master’s degree in biomedical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in industrial chemistry from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), Thailand.
