Accurate measurement of anti-infective drugs in biological fluids is a pre-requisite for rational development of treatment regimens and the interpretation of treatment failure or apparent toxicity, yet it is remarkable how often published data on drug levels are simply wrong. There are usually inadequate data upon which to develop drug regimens for the treatment of tropical infectious diseases in young children, because of the difficulty in conducting traditional pharmacokinetic studies in tropical countries. One of our main goals is to develop low volume field adapted assays which will greatly improve the chances of conducting pharmacokinetic studies in children in the tropics. ![]()
