Udon Thani is a major province in northeast Thailand, closed to Vientiane, the capital city of Laos. Udon Thani province has a population of 0.8 million people, the majority of who are rice farmers. Udon Thani Regional Hospital is a 800-bed hospital located in the center of Udon Thani.

MORU undertakes collaborative studies at Udon Thani Regional Hospital, with major interests in leptospirosis, scrub typhus and melioidosis.

Our major focus is to:
(i) Improve diagnostics, and to determine the clinical impact of early diagnosis and treatment in these bacterial infection diseases.
(ii) Conduct therapeutic trials that aim to reduce mortality
